How to read disc golf flight numbers
How fast you must throw it. Higher speed means a thinner, sharper rim and more distance potential, but more arm speed required.
How long the disc holds its line in the air. More glide carries farther and floats; less glide drops sooner and resists wind.
High-speed movement. Negative turn drifts right (RHBH) and is more beginner-friendly; 0 or +1 holds straight under power.
The low-speed hook back to the left (RHBH) at the end of the flight. High fade finishes hard for wind and sharp corners.
Stability is turn + fade: positive is overstable (fights turn, finishes left), near zero is stable/straight, negative is understable (flips up, good for beginners and turnover shots).
Disc database FAQ
What do disc golf flight numbers mean?
Every disc has four numbers: speed (1-14, how fast it must be thrown), glide (1-7, how long it stays aloft), turn (+1 to -5, high-speed rightward movement for a RHBH throw), and fade (0-5, the low-speed hook left at the end). Speed/glide/turn/fade fully describe the flight.
How does Pine Tree Disc Golf verify the numbers?
We cross-check each disc against its manufacturer listing on Infinite Discs and flag any disc that matches as "verified." On top of the raw numbers we compute stability category, estimated distance by arm speed, and a 0-100 beginner score - none of which are on the source listing.
What flight numbers are good for a beginner?
New players do best with slower, understable discs: speed 5 or under with negative turn (-2 to -4) and low fade. Use the Beginner-friendly sort or the Beginner skill filter to surface them.
How do I compare two discs?
Select discs with the checkbox on each card and hit Compare, or open any disc and use "Compare with other discs." The comparison page surfaces exactly what differs - flight, feel, distance, and price.
